think this is a Padi bobo and I must admit Im not happy with the personal information available to anyone who knows my name and date of birth.

Go to www.padi.com, enter the keep diving area and click on replacement c cards. The site used to request your name and dob then divert you to a listing all your certifications so you could request a new card if lost /stolen etc.

The site has now been revised and after you enter the basic info it takes you to a screen providing all personal info, home address, phone and fax numbers and even a photograph of yourself. I would have thought this would be a breach of the privacy act and intend to speak to them tomorrow morning.

Now what is worse, say there is another member of your family that has a basic certification, enter their name and dob details and go thru the same process, I just did his with my partners name who only has her OW certificate ( we have different surnames but the same residential address) the site shows she has all the same certifications as myself and she can click on a higher level and request a replacement card on line ) credit card details required)

In other words she could get her Advanced, Rescue and Divemaster for the $62.00 AUD fee each for a replacement card!

Go Padi!

Interesting. I just checked it out. The photograph is more of an issue for me than anything else. The address and phone numbers can be obtained from several different sources on the Internet.

The certification thing is a function of the site saving cookies and just bringing back all the same certs you had showing. Clear your cookies and try again. They won't all show up. My guess is if your partner tried to order a Rescue replacement card, she wouldn't get it. I didn't go through the entire process of choosing a card, but it might not even let you complete it if you actually don't have the cert.

If you have such a problem with this, give PADI a call and voice your complaints. I think they just didn't realize the privacy issues.

This is an example of why I treat my date of birth with the same confidentiality as my Social Security number.

I just checked mine, and it gave my correct listing, then checked my wife's and it gave her correct listings (different) maybe as stated your cookies arent updating, showing your certs on the other persons.....I agree that I dont like that much instant information, just with name/Dob.

:hmmm: I tried it and got this error message...
