I have a bare nex-gen drysuit that I sent into bare for service. I just called bare and asked about installing a p-valve while it was there, and they said it is not possible to install a p-valve in a nex-gen due to nothing will stick to the outside of the suit. I know people have installed p-valves in this suit, any info would be great.

No special instructions required. Just follow the standard instructions.

How do you get past the nothing sticking to the outside of the suit?

Because of the way the nut holds the p-valve in. There is no stress on the glue that is under the washers.

hey, i work at a shop that sells bare- our rep is very specific that many of the additions cannot be added to the nex-gen. i never asked about the p-valve, but i know that they cannot add any pockets to the outside due to the matieral of the suit... could be for the same reason?!

:idk:

but i know that they cannot add any pockets to the outside due to the matieral of the suit

another falsehood.

Bare must mean that adhesion to the material does not meet their standards. But they do mount the inflator valve and exhaust valves to the NexGen suits. And they glue the neck and wrist seals? I have a couple of Bare suits, a Trilam HD Tech and a NexGen but have a p-valve only on the HD Tech. The NexGen valves and seals, though, are all mounted with what looks like adhesives. I would look into p-valves that seal mostly with screwtight pressure on the gasket and go ahead with the usual adhesives.
