Chad,

I've got one that you can borrow until we get some more in.

Hey Chad,

My buddy, Justin, used his 30# Mach V on that last Morehead City we all went on. He was diving X8-130s, and said the wing performed just as well as it did with AL80s. On that same trip, Reese was using a Mach V Extreme on a LP120, and really liked it. I haven't personally used my Mach V on 8" diameter tanks, but it should be just fine.

FYI, both LP and HP steel tanks come in 7.25" (same as an AL80) and 8" diameters. And you are right, the extra 3/4" doesn't change much as far as wing performance goes.

I love my Mach V with both 8.0" (LP 95's) and 7.25" tanks (I always use a STA).

When you do use 8.0" tanks it is important to make sure you have minimal air in the bladder when you try to tighten up the cam bands. If you have too much air in the bladder the band is not really tight against the STA. This is usually only an issue when changing over between tanks on a dive boat and you had put air in your wing on the surface.

For all my BP and Wing rigs (2 cam bands), I use a standard style threaded camb band (SS Dive Rite) for the top band and a SS Scuba Pro cinch strap style band for the lower strap. The reason - it is easier to slide the rig onto a tank. The lower band is totally open so you do not have to slide it over the length of the tank. The top band makes it easy to position and hold the tank vs. having two Scuba Pro style bands.

Well there are now two Jeff's.

xiSkiGuy I appreciate the offer, but Reese said he could have one by next week. My girlfriend and I are going on a cruise next weekend and I plan on bringing my knighthawk along.
I should have plenty of time to adjust the harness and work out any trim issues between the beginning of Oct and the Deerfield Beech trip. Have yet to dive with a BP/W. Looking forward to it.

This is an interesting point that I have yet to think of.
The LDS ordered two OC SS cam bands and an STA to go along with the Mach V and Hog harness.

Thanks everyone for the input, scubaboard is a great tool.

This is a good idea, especially if you have a SS BP.

I have the 30# Mach V with an STA (old Halcyon non-weighted).

I dive it with my HP100s and HP119s all the time. No problems going back and forth. I use the Halcyon cam bands (octogrip) at the moment, before I used the DiveRite SS cambands, both function pretty much identically.

The HP119 (8" tank) probably slightly prevents the wing from fully inflating, but I haven't really noticed much, if any, difference in the water. If you're really cutting it close with capacity, I could see wanting the bigger 40# wing, but other than that, the 30# one open just fine.

Thanks CompuDude. I don't think I'll be pushing 30# negative until I move on to large doubles, of course I'll get a doubles wing for that.

Thanks for the tip on the Scuba Pro strap kidsdream. I think I'll take the one off my Knighthawk before I put it on ebay.
