All is fine so far. The light is sturdy and well built. The light isn't really bright, but it is made for a backup, not primary. The double o-ring is a nice feature and its less than the Halcyon light. I have never taken a Halcyon apart, but the two can't be that much different.

Look on COVCI for the best price.

Another possibility is Divelightman on Ebay. $65.00 for a scout(-like) light.

The bulb is the 5.5 watt 6 volt bulb from the Underwater Kinetics SL4 dive light. It's driven by 4.5 volts, so that should give you just over 4 watts of light.

It's the same system as the Halcyon Scout, and they claim a 4.5 to 5 hour burn time.

Looking at a typical nomograph for voltage vs. light vs. current vs life give the following values for running at 75% of nominal

current: 85% (so power is 3.5watts)
light output: 38% of nominal
life: 30 times increase

The light output of a tungsten bulb dramatically drops with voltage reduction as the filament temperature cools.

Make sure that it has enough light for your intended purpose.

These lights are designed to be a backup light, and the need for reliability overrides the need for brightness. They're not designed to be used as a primary night.

You will kick them if you've seen the brightness of the MAL-Lighting µHLD1 backup torch!
