Hello all,
I have a Seaskin drysuit with their standard Drysuit Tech Boot - however the terrain for shore diving entries here is a little rougher and sharper than I anticipated on some sites, and I feel like the tech boots' sole might not be thick enough for the purpose, and quickly end up with holes pierced in them

The suit is new, so I'm not looking to replace the boots at the moment, but was thinking about rigging up some DIY undersoles for rough terrain - something like extra large beach sandals / water shoes with straps and a thick rubber sole to wear over the boots up to the water, removing them before finning up.

Has anyone experimented with this kind of solution, and come up with something practical?

I've tried with water shoes I have - these too small for these purposes and only have one strap which would not be secure enough, but it does seem to be doable:

Getting the largest size of cheap sandals like these for instance:

or a closed model (size would be of the essence)

Has anyone played around with something similar?

cheers

Remove some heavier soles from a pair of dive boots and glue them on after some matching grinding

Sounds good thanks - for now I don't think I want the fix to be permanent, as in most cases the boots I have are fine. I'm also worried about fitting the fins with a permanent extra layer.

It's just for certain more sketchy entries, and I'm ok with diving with sandals in my pockets

PS. thanks for the tip on the pony mount, went for your no-nonsense solution, should be arriving this week
cheers

I have glued on a much thinner 3-4mm sole with grip to a drysuit boot for much the same reason. Found on Amazon. Make sure it still fits your fins.
So I'm not the only one 😅 Thanks Dave, I'll look into it!

Something like these or these maybe?

Dude heat from your hair dryer is the great glue unstickabler and so grab larger fins for special occasions

Cool on the mount did you get the one that slides on the belt or that other one that slips behind the belt
