Just be careful about booking hotels through 'agents', given the possibility that you might not like the hotel or location and want to move only to told you are liaible for the complete period of the booking, meaning you stuck in some lousy hotel or costs you a bomb to move on. Booking direct with the hotel generally avoids this problem, and take it one or two days at a time.
This happened to me this last December at Boracay (which is very touristy but convenient for a short break) - eventually got it down to two nights cancellation fee, and got out of there, but it ruined the holiday. (Hotel was Las Brisas - not recommended)
