Population of Cancun 2017 was 750,000
Population of Chicago was 9,000,000

Alrighty then.....try the Baltimore statistics.

Same size as Cancun. And even more murders. Yet i don't judge the state or country by that statistic.

Is that educated enough?

educated response ....
You can't blame him for the Chicago mistake. Lots of papers cited that in their articles without giving the population number. I believe that's what folks have been talking about for a few years now with regards to fake news.

I was also going to suggest that Cancun's murder rate makes it seem a lot safer than Baltimore.

I still do not see any tourists caught up in the killings. Hopefully, most are smart enough to buy their Coke only from cartel affiliated dealers....

...and then there is this. I almost spewed coffee all over my laptop! Thanks Jay! :rofl3:

Baltimore isn't trying to attract tourists to come to their town AFAIK.

Of course it is. That's why they developed the inner harbor, invested in Camden Yards, etc.
Google search "Cancun Ads".
Top Result: Holiday Commercial - Mexico Tourism Board - Visit Cancun Riviera ...
Every result on the first page is an ad designed to attract tourists to vacation in Cancun.

No results on the first page attracting tourists.

Is it possible that the development you're talking about targeted local residents/businesses rather than tourism?

And the same drug cartels seems to be the driving factor in both.
And took the ferry over to Cozumel last weekend, didn't worry about it. I think that in either city you will find the majority of the violence is clustered in the areas where the drug trade is also clustered

Regardless, I'd sure be more comfortable wandering around Cozumel at night compared to Baltimore. I hear they have better diving too!
