Hi all,

We read a lot about how good Shearwater is at customer support and service. I have experienced it myself multiple times over the years but wanted to share a recent experience that reconfirmed it and some.

Last month I was packing up for a long diving trip oversees when I realized my Petrel 3 controller was giving me a Watchdog error (see other threads on this). I contacted immediately Dive-tronix but we soon realized that there was not enough time for them to service the unit and send it back to me before my trip. They put me in touch with Shearwater and they offered to send me a loaner unit directly to my my destination abroad. I received it 3 days after the first message with Shearwater and did not miss a single dive. In addition, Dive-tronix has been working on fixing my Petrel 3 and sent it back as soon as I got back home.

This is above and beyond what I consider good customer support.

I know that there are other good dive computers on the market but because of this level of customer service I will keep diving Shearwater for OC (happy owner of 2 Petrel 3 SA) and will not consider any rebreather not based on Shearwater electronics going forward (currenlty diving ChOptima with Petrel 3 and NERD 2 both wired).

Thank you to both Shearwater and Dive-tronix!

I love shearwater. It's incredibly rare to find this kind of service. Thanks for sharing! Anytime I find a company like this, you can bet I'll be a big supporter. Besides shearwater, the only other company I know that provides this kind of service these days is Deep6.

That is absolutely amazing. The contrast with Aqualung (sit on it for six weeks, offer a discount on a new computer after the first one failed within 18 months) is striking. Shearwater epitomizes the "buy once, cry once" ethos.
