I think you're just going to have to go with your own gut feeling on this one.
You could just do the AOW and figure that as a refresher plus the other stuff.
Or, you could look up some old dive buddies and do a few shore dives to get back in the swing.
Or, get on an easy boat like the Spectre.
Do you really think you forgot that much?
What are your concerns?
Do you still have all your gear, or do you have gear?
Two years isn't that much time. If it was 5 or 10 I would say yes, do a refresher.

Eric, we don't have enough info from OP. farmerstephen, how many dives and how many years of diving did you have when you stopped two years ago?

I've been out of the water for almost two years, I will have some time to devote to getting back in the water this summer, I want to get AOW but should I do a refresher first?

I would strongly suggest to take first the Refresher course before going to the AOW course.
You will be able to take much more advantage of the AOW with the refresher done.
It takes very little and is not expensive, and you will be in a calm and relaxed course where you will meet yourself back with your knowlegde about diving.

Talk to you instructor. I was in a similar situation and the instructor had me join a OW pool session and run through skills with me for no extra charge on top of the AOW. I did reread the OW book beforehand.
