I thought you folks might enjoy this:

A octopus has caused havoc in his aquarium by performing juggling tricks using his fellow occupants, smashing rocks against the glass and turning off the power by short circuiting a lamp.

Cool,

I hope to meet an octopus someday :)

That is really cool. There was a fairly recent article in National Geographic that compared the intelligence of various animals to human beings, one of which was the octopus, and it did discuss that they do get "bored" and do things to amuse themselves.

That story reminds me of my fids (furred & feathered kids).. Trying to get attention & doing things to suit them... Mind you I would freak if I came home & the cats had moved the couch...

GO OTTO!!! Keep people on their toes...

I came across a little octopus in a clam shell. I opened the shell a little, and he reached up with two tentacles and pulled it back closed. We did this back and forth a couple of more times before I left him alone. He was so fierce and cute. I absolutely love them. I want to see some large ones though. The biggest I've come across have been the size of my half-fist.

Hahaha I loved the story!

Octopuses are just awesome critters, very intelligent. They are my favourite things to find on dives, and if I spot one will spend a good proportion of the rest of my dive just watching it! I do a lot of night dives to try to see them as most come out then, lots of blue-rings and Maoris in particular. The Maori ones get quite large, seen one of about a metre in length!

A big thank you, Phrenzy! That is a awesome story! My son and I enjoyed reading the report. I guess I never cease to be amazed by the antics of sea life. Maybe they should just release this fellow instead of rewiring the aquarium! I am pulling for Otto!
Hey they made a movie about "Willie" the killer whale, what about Otto!
Again thank you for the article and good luck with your diving!
CamG Keep diving....keep training....keep learning!

I heard a story about an octopus in the Boston aquarium that was climbing out of it's tank, going across the room, entering another tank, eating fish in that tank, and then crawling back to it's own tank. Employees of the aquarium could not figure out why there were missing fish at night in a particular tank, and discovered the octopus stealing the fish in the middle of the night after an employee decided to spend the night hiding in the room. I don't know if this is accurate, but it came from a semi-reliable source.

There was a report about an octobus eating sharks (dogfishes?) in an aquarium.

They're smart, they change appearance in a split second and they have tentacles. What's not to love? :)
