There was a post in a different thread referring to "Ortho-K". I had never heard of this but am extremely interested. I currently wear soft contact lenses for diving, but have considered a prescription mask. I'm not interested in laser surgery so this sounds like an excellent option to me. My question is ... has anyone on here done the Ortho-K method, if so for how long and how are the results?

Here is a link to a site explaining all about it if you are interested:

Here I am, I posted some news regarding Ortho-K in another thread and maybe made a mistake...

I adopted Ortho-K and I am a happy diver even if I have only 13 dives under my belt...

The first time you will use these new rigid lenses it will be a REAL BIG nightmare but wait (like clearing a mask full of water the first time) and you will be rewarded in just a few days or even hours after wearing them...

This kind of lenses are not very confortable but as long as you wear them during the night you do not have to worry too much...

As I said, I put them on at 23:00 PM and take them out at 7:30 AM and for the rest of the day I got maximum visus in both eyes...

I tested my eyes in 13 dives including one night dive in Sharm El Sheikh and I had no problems at all...

One minor problem I noticed is that if you look at a tiny source of light during the night it looks like a star but after a few days you stop noticing it...

Hope this helps...

I am from Italy but my doctor says this technique was imported from the USA...

Feel free to ask me whatever you want and sorry if something is not clear enogh, my english is far from being perfect...

Ciao Erik Il Rosso (Erik The Red)

P.S. I am a perfectionist, I am afraid :)
