Update on the Oriskany in October. I love October.... The water is still warm in the mid-seventies. The seas were crazy last night. They were at 8 feet when we went to sleep but bouy showed around 4 this morning. We left the dock at 6:45 and headed out to see for ourselves. The reality was much better. They were 2-3 slow rollers. No big deal. It was very foggy on the way out but once we got a couple of miles off shore it was beautiful and sunny. The vis however was not good because of the wind and waves over the last several days. Vis was about 25 feet on the first dive and a little less on the second.
NOTE: Even when the vis is not great on the Oriskany there is so much little stuff to look at that it is still a great dive.
I spent my time looking inside the wreck at all the spiny oysters and around the structure at all the tropical fish. So even with 25 foot vis it is was a good day of diving.
Thanks to several divers from Germany I learned some really neat new dirty words. Learning to cuss in another language can come in handy.
We have another trip tomorrow I'll let everyone know if the vis improves. The muck on the Oriskany generally sinks to the bottom within 48 hours. The weather is supposed to be warm and sunny. The seas are supposed to be 1-2.
So come on - get off the couch and dive! :cool2:
