Went out to the Oriskany Sunday. Great conditions, 2 foot seas, 73 degree water temperature and GREAT visibility. I saw all the usual critters. And, for the first time, I saw coronet fish. I have seen them in the Caribbean, but this is the first time in the Gulf. It seems the fish are getting bigger, a lot of big grouper and amberjack.

The first dive I had a little trouble clearing my right ear. But, the second dive no problems. At about 15' I could see the wreck, so I dumped the air and free fell to the exhaust stack. What a cool view! It was like a free falling onto the top of a sky scraper. One of my most memorable diving moments to date.

Yea, the flight deck is lower, my max depth on my first dive was 131. Could not touch the deck, but, I could count the rivets. Even so, it is an incredible dive!

I was just wondering where the 130' mark is now on the "O." I have heard it is right at the bottom of the flag bridge.

Closer to the top of the Flag Bridge, by my measure, but you get a little variation with tide and instrument used. The Window line is right at 135, but you can peek over the top into the flag bridge and see the expanse of the flight deck from that vantage point. It's all still good.

I was about level with the floor of the Flag Bridge when I recorded the 131 foot depth. There were 5 BIG grouper looking up at me from the flight deck.
