A Douglas County Sheriff's spokesman says the 44-year-old victim is hospitalized in serious condition at OHSU with a gun shot wound to the head.

The Douglas County major crimes team is investigating a number of leads in Tuesday afternoon's shooting.

Douglas County Sheriff's spokesman says the victim is hospitalized in serious condition.

Investigators are still trying to determine a motive for the shooting.

Divers on Wednesday recovered a gun from the river that is believed to be the one used in the shooting.

Probably thought he was "plinking at turtles" - then when he realized he'd shot a person, panicked and threw the weapon away and ran.
I have a word for folks like that but it won't get past our TOS.

Do they have hillbillys in Oregon?
In all walks of life ... in just about any type of environment ... you'll find people who will do things that will endanger others. Sometimes it's out of stupidity, sometimes pure accident, other times it's just plain maliciousness.

Ain't enough info the article to determine what this guy's motives were.

But yes ... there are hillbillies in Oregon. Plenty of hills there for them to live in too ...
