Skjervøy – Far up north, far above the Arctic Circle. From here, we embark on a special boat tour: out onto the open sea, into the cold and clear waters of the North Atlantic. Our goal is to encounter the majestic orcas – those fascinating hunters who follow the herring shoals every year. The experience of entering the water with them and seeing these powerful animals in their natural habitat is indescribable. An intense moment between human and animal that you won't soon forget. Filmed with an iPhone and Osmo Action 5.

The town is about a three-hour drive north of Tromsø, which is the starting point due to the airport. The meeting point is around 9 a.m., followed by a briefing and distribution of dry suits. It sets off around 10 a.m. and after about 20 minutes or an hour (depending on how you feel that day) you can see the first fins of the orcas. If the conditions are right and the orcas show the appropriate signals, you can go into the water at the command of the boat captain to admire the passing orcas. The humpback and fin whales that surface alongside are almost lost in the spectacle. Depending on the day, this process is repeated up to ten times and after 2.5 hours it is time to start the journey home due to the temperature and the onset of night. To keep your chances high, it is recommended to stay on site and book several days in a row. You should also do this well in advance as the tours are often fully booked well in advance.
