I am assuming that there are either deleted, edited posts or both by the OP. otherwise, the way this thread looks now, the vultures are out. The OP started this thread asking what depth so he can figure an EAN mixture. Then it looks like all hell breaks loose and as usual, Jim chimes in with his instructor training bashing tirade. WTF is going on with people today?

I think I'll go look at the pretty fishies today in S Florida. Sheesh

Isn't the point, that if you can't do the very simple calculations to get a MOD, you shouldn't be messing with EAN ?

That is an assumption. It is possible that he wanted to know what the depth is and was curious as to what others dive when they do the Devil's Throat. I think the bashing was unwarranted. Intent and perception will always be a problem in all aspects of life and communication. Again, I see that there are deleted posts but the original question should bear no internet chest beating.

I have to agree with you. It looks like all he asked was what the depth was. His title looks to me like he was trying to figure out the optimal mix, and simply wanted depth. Then everyone attacked. I am on tapatalk and can't tell if anything has been edited.

If I ask "hey, I am trying to plan a dive at grid coordinates DZ12345678, can someone help me out with the depth of this site so I can mix my gas?" Would everyone jump in me for not knowing MOD and simple calculations?

The original post HAS been edited. I would never have been critical of the OP if he had simply asked for depth information for dive planning purposes. In the original post he also asked for advice on gas planning which is what drew the critical posts.

See the small letters at the bottom of the post (may require using a computer - not a phone/tablet) 'Last edited by Candiru Yesterday at 3:47PM". That indicates that the OP changed something almost 24 hours after his original post. After 24 hours no further changes are possible.

Judging by posts 4-5 and 14 it appears to originally have had some nitrox related question as well.
