Opinions on the Dive Rite Nitek Duo?

I think they were having problems with some of the early runs.
 
oh, they definetely did ... not sure about the buttons, but certainly the program would lock up

but they have long fixed that
 
I don't know.... I've read quite a few reports from the past year about the screens locking up, fading out, buttons not working, pressure sensor failing, random gas switches on it's own.

I really would like to buy one, but I have read so many bad reports that are hard to get past. The one shining light of all the reports I read was that DR seems to have GREAT customer service after the sale!

I had heard similar things and talked to the Dive Rite Rep at a local Demo day several weeks ago. Apparently Seiko (who makes the Duo, and it's clones) had a soldering problem on about 5% or less of the computers they manufactured back in the 2003 time frame. They fixed the problem and haven't had any systemic issues since then (or at least that's what he told me). I just bought an Archimedes II (one of the clones) from Leisure Pro for $250. It looks nice, hoping to dive it this weekend.
