Macro lenses are not an issue, but strobe triggering is impossible because modern phones lack a mechanical shutter necessary to sync with a strobe.
Perhaps some sort of Bluetooth signal which boosts the level of yet-to-be-developed for constant lights? I’m sure folks are working on it, probably none more than DiveVolk—they are already selling a kit using BT to turn the housed phone into a monitor for a big rig with no wired connection, and marketing their own lights, and both Backscatter and Retra are selling hybrid video/flash units.

Matching the prompt brightness of a mid-range strobe with a LED array would take an output power around half a million lumen - not really feasible in any kind of portable unit.
Yep, nothing out there right now would work; happily, the phones do remarkably well with standard video lights. But 25 years ago, the idea of taking a telephone on a dive to take pictures seemed silly, so who knows what's next?

One way to square this particular circle would be a global electronic shutter camera, which would bypass the requirement for a mechanical shutter, the way Sony A9 III does it, but I wouldn't hold my breath for one to appear in a phone anytime soon.

We'll be lucky if it appears in any other camera bodies anytime soon, let alone something with a price tag under like $3000-5000. Canon doesn't appear to be in any hurry.

What's your plan for getting access to your cloud account in a scenario where your phone has flooded on a trip? Your MFA app is on your phone which just died. Recovery SMS? The SIM card is dead along with the phone, and you need to go back to your country to get a new one. Recovery email? Protected by MFA, which died with the phone.
If you can't setup a new phone without a functioning old phone, something is wrong with your security setup! If you read my post a few lines above your quoted line, you can see that I was talking from experience. I was able to get to my gmail on my wife's phone to get authorized. If you travel solo, you ebtter have a backup device (tablet or laptop) anyway.

Bluetooth does not work underwater.

Bluetooth does not work underwater.
It does, along with Wifi, if you use an antenna cable.

The blue cable is carrying the wifi signal between the camera and the phone.

This is my own design that I'm working on as the Divevolk version is a bit limited and doesn't work with the Divevolk 4 Max Ultra case, only the Divevolk 4 Max case (go figure)

That’s interesting! Are the antennae you’re using readily available? What limitations of the DV unit are you avoiding? Nicely innovated!

(I looked at your site after I hit send. You have some cool products—I don’t use a DPV, but your tripod looks great.)
