Do a lot of traveling and knighthawk too heavy. Think bp& Wing better option than travel BCD.

The Scubapro GO or liteHawk is your solution!

Do you want to do a trade-in?

I am in retail myself and the retail environment has changed drastically with internet. The ability to research products and do comparative pricing is enormous. I think the most annoying thing with my LDS, is their lack of acknowledging their are other good products out there and the attitude that mine are the best, take it or leave it attitude. If they had been open minded they probably could have gotten the sale. I didn't expect a price match, but knowledgeable objective opinion and to try and be close. I would have rather spent my money with him, but lost complete sale with attitude.

Couldn't agree more! I have a great relationship with my LDS, and I'm willing to pay a few bucks more to shop local. That said, sometimes I get an unreasonable amount of resistance to my requests that the shop at least come close to matching an online price. I surely don't expect my LDS to take a loss, but come on, isn't some profit better than no profit? Especially with the understanding that I'm going to have local tax out of my pocket...

And the fact that he'd like to try caves at some point was ignored. With thinking he'd like to try caves a BPW is not only the best choice but the most economical.

O2Gluken: I think your choice to go to BPW is a great one. I think the choice to move to a BPW should be fairly indepent from your choice in regulator. Speaking of regulators:

I have Hog regs (set up for SM). I'm about to be buying a bunch of stage/deco regs, and they'll be Hog. I sold my Hollis regs for my first set, and I'm happy with the switch. The Hollis regs did fine, but the ability to service my own regs was huge for me. For example, during my Full Cave course my Hollis First Stage blew an o-ring. Not a big deal....it's a 5-minute fix. HOWEVER, if you don't have the parts then you don't have the parts. I didn't. We had to go all the way back to the shop to keep diving. If that was Day 1 on a 7 day liveaboard, I would've been LIVID. Scubapro, Apeks, Atomic, Hollis, etc.....they're all great regs. But so is Hog. Hogs also have a 2-year service interval. Your choice to go to Hog isn't wrong....I just don't know if I'd go through the hassle of buying/selling just to trade regs. Maybe sell if they're almost due for their annual.

Quick note: don't go braided 7' hose. I had one for forever and thought it was fine....until I switched to rubber. WAY better.
