I have the opportunity to pick up a used once ScubaPro MK17 for a great price. I currently have the MK25 but the MK17 will be for my wife. I have read reviews on this and understand that it is used for COLD water dives but would love to hear your opinion. It will be paired up with the S555 second stage.

thanks

I have two Mk17's for my doubles. Used one as a single with an s555. Great breather and worked in any temp water I could throw at it. I used to dive regs from (unnamed manufacturer). Those are now sold in favor of the ScubaPros. Now that both 17's are dedicated I am looking to add another for a singles rig. This one would be coupled with a G250V.

The only thing you will be 'losing' on a 17 versus a 25 is the additional options for hose routing that the turret on the 25 gives.

I have two of these regs, they are very good. I routinely dive cold water (upper 30s) with them, without a problem. They are sealed, so water does not enter the ambient chamber. This decreases corrosion potential. As stated by Hank though, hose routing is not as nice. I say buy it, or give me contact information and I will buy the reg!
