I thought I would post in this thread instead of starting another. How do you modify your TX50 to be able to open it w/o tools. It does look as a single piece of mold with no faceplate to unscrew or any other obvious means of taking it apart.

I have answered my own question:)) The faceplate appeared to me to be absolutely flush with the rest of the unit, but having looked closely I noticed a small groove, and Whoila! it turned easily.

Are the ATX50s the same? I have tried in vain to twist it open, but haven't tried using tools yet. I assume it opens with a counter-clockwise rotation?

Well, it does look very similar to TX series. I am sure it unscrews the same way by turning it counterclockwise. Try to put your open palm on the faceplate pushing firmly and rotating at the same time. One of mine's two was really tight whereas the second was so much easier to unscrew.

The ATX opens the same way as the TX. They come pretty tight from the factory, I think.

I haven't found a good excuse to open one underwater yet, but that hasn't stopped me. I guess it's nice to know I can. Not really a major factor in choosing a reg, but I have all Apeks regs.. all the features I could possibly want, easy breathing, easy servicing, and I only need to carry around one parts kit for all of them.
