How many of you guys think you would benefit from a video on open water trick tips, for beginners that are about to take there open water or even for you verteran divers who need a refresher on buoyancy control, how to use your compass, etc...:D

There is no substitute for getting wet.

If I were to not be in the water for a long period of time and wanted to refresh my memory, I would pull out my OW (or whatever course) video, or manual. I am a bit old fashioned, and prefer to use a book. I can look in the table of contents, locate the chapter with the desired information, read it, perusing any notes made in the margins much quicker than turning on the computer or fast forwarding through a video.

But that's just me.

i do think a video would be a good idea for refreshing on things. of course it's no substitute for diving, but i think it would still be a good idea, cause you can't always go diving when you want to, may have an upcoming trip and just want to brush up on things. especially if you're going to include tips, etc. that are not taught in OW or even AOW classes, which can be woefully inadequate in some cases!! include finning techniques too! they don't teach you a darn thing about that, but the very basic flutter kick. (the PADI class i was in anyway)

In a lot of cases multiple presentation help reinforce things. Even after doing our PDIC,class and pool work watching the PADI video (EBAY) was good reinforcement and in some spots added depth of knowledge. That being said such a video does exist. The trick would be to make yours better and more interesting. IMO the PADI material had room for a lot more detail. Actually it sounds like a fun project!

I would go to the pool....My wife took the fall/winter off. We went to the pool for a 1/2 hour before heading to Key Largo...When we got to Key Largo we asked for a conservative dives for the first trip.

Hey everyone, thanks for your input, we have been getting a lot of yes's and no's, but more yes's than no's, so a section for our issues will be called "Trick Tips" (3 - 5 min long, in every issue featuring diff skills, even navigation, etc).

If you have ever watched skateboard, snowboard, wakeboarding videos, you will have a better understanding of what we mean, it won't be anything like PADI, how boring.....Dive Zero is about the youth, and showing divers who are from there 16 - 30's that diving isnt just for oldschool members from the 1970's. Diving has reached a new era and the younger generation are picking up the sport, just as much as wakeboarding, snowboarding, etc...some kids dont do it because they think it isnt "cool", well we as sponsored extreme sports riders, O/W instructors, course directors and business owners are going help change that.

Some people are blind to that fact, some people hide it, but we here at Dive Zero are going to try the new, unthinkable, unique, that is what we are all about, even filming and editing high definition (a whole new era to video) is brand new not only for us but the rest of the world.

In short, "Trick Tips" will be filmed in such an interesting way, you will get so stoked from just that one section, that you will want to go diving anywhere, everytime you watch it, and it will be more informative and interesting than PADI videos.

Slightly off topic for you but just an observation - looks like it will be a well made site when it goes up properly - but it takes a loooong time to load before you get to see anything, and anyone on dialup will most likely give up waiting and move on, especially if you have to wait for this every time you visit the site.
