A British friend of mine and his 13-year-old son will be going to Florida at around the end of June and would like to take up diving there, possibly in the Keys.

Could you please recommend a good reliable centre?

We have used several times in the past, and continue to do so....Kelly's By The Bay and Aqua-Nut divers. Great folks

We just went to the Keys in Jan/Feb and my wife Deb did here OW referral with Paradise Divers http://www.paradivers.com/. They are a smaller operation, which I prefer over the big cattle boat operators. I think you get more personal attention and they’re more willing to schedule based on your preferences.

My wife and I just did part of an advanced course with them and I HIGHLY recommend them. Brent is a board member and he will take very good care of your friends. I can't say enough nice things about these guys.

i am a newbie (cert. july 1st 2002) and my dad and i did our open water in key west. its a very cool place to go, and very good for learning most dives we didn't go past 30'. we went with subtropic dive center. and they were great. our instructor was nice, and a very good teacher. plus key west is a very cool place to spend your surface time. just my $.02:) :) :)
