Interesting idea. Let me see if I am understanding this right.

It could be a log book page with a list of conditions and a place for an instructor or DM to sign off on next to it. It would have no official, legal status, but would serve primarily as a reminder to the student that all conditions are not created equal.

Some logbooks have pages similar to this in which the diver periodically provides the total experiences for certain kinds of dives, although I have not seen one for this sort of thing. Perhaps in lieu of a signature, which really wouldn't mean much, the diver could occasionally summarize the total experience in each category.

If you wanted to do it in a more formal way, cert agencies could have their own stamp which could be placed either in a log book or on the cert card itself similar to the way the U S water fowl hunting stamp is placed on the hunters license.

BSAC you have to do a certain amount of dives in certain conditions/types of dive to get a qualification regardless of the skill dives.

I know just over zilch about BSAC, so please excuse elementary questions.

What does that qualification give you?

How is it certified?

BSAC ocean diver is the entry level qualification. Sort of equivalent to open water. Certifies a diver to 20m depth.
Sport diver (second level ) is 35 with deco
Dive Leader is third level (50m with deco).

Well, after reading all the posts so far I find myself in the same boat. I hope all goes well with WEM. I am going to push forward with trying to ge a cert agency to give the O.K. but even if they dont I think if the price is right a discover scuba & refresher course may make this a viable buisness. If we get it going I'll give all ScubaBoard members 25% off their first dive. LOL!

Well, a little history about the last guy who dealt with the mall. He went bankrupt!!!!!!!!

For one, rent for the boat (Store) was around $60 000 for the year, plus 20% of his sales. So just to pay for the rent with discover scubas, based at $30.00 a session, you need to do 2 000 of them just to pay the rent. Also, everyday the mall is open, you have to be open!!!! More bucks for staffing!!! Great way to go broke!!!!

He lasted only 6 months!!!!!!!!!!!

I would only do this if the numbers are right. I'm not one to make rash buisness decisions. WEM has given me different numbers than what you have stated. But we're working on it. Thank you for the concern for my well being DiveAlberta.
