@kr2y5

Glad to see your thoughts on this thread, it could use a little Zen.

In all fairness, I’m pretty sure that Jax presents a huge time burden to the mods. She will aggressively challenge and defend what she believes to be right even when she knows that she has gone too far and it will come out of her hide. I too enjoy her point of view and miss it with her ban.

If she could just learn to make her point and then watch to see how it is taken (like the rest of us do) there is hope.

Criticizing moderators' decision seems like a bad strategy,
Actually, if you can't learn from criticism, you need to lighten up. That being said, I took the initial tone of this thread to be more conciliatory and an attempt to understand how/why things work. Sure, we got some negative vibes from peeps who don't want to accept responsibility for their actions, but that's to be expected. ScubaBoard is different from most every forum that I've been on in that we allow such discussions and aren't afraid of them. While we're all about protecting one's privacy and won't divulge publicly details of these incidents, we're still open to doing things better and better. We see ourselves as a social experiment. If something doesn't work, we change it. If it works, we still try to make it work better. Before I took over SB, bans were done in secret, both to the users and the individual. Passwords were changed and email accounts purged so they could never recover them. I saw a lot of pettiness and knee jerk reactions to perceived slights about ScubaBoard or the then owner. Very, very few on the board realized this was the MO, and it always struck me funny how they sometimes perceived me as being "out of control" when an account was suspended, mostly because it was obvious and not done in a "secret double probation" manner. FWIW, I very rarely suspend an account. If you ask me the particulars about a ban, truth is, I probably know less than you about it. I trust my mods!

Observe, learn, adjust. We can't do that without feedback. We certainly appreciate the feedback.

I say we split the difference and allow Jax access to A&I only...

Then let Jim back...

And heck, let's bring ScubainChicago back too...

:)

You forgot to mention that you'd be online 24/7/365 to keep them in check and clean up after them.

'cause I won't. And I suspect that not many others in the mod corps will, either. Some of us have a life.

I like to think I have a life too. But, now, I got all intrigued, and want to see their posts. How can I do that?
Damn you, @Storker! Do I get banned, so I don't feel left out like @kombiguy ? :eyebrow::surrender:

So, here we are at the 50+ posts mark. We all know what that means, things start to fall apart. Our rag-tag bunch managed to chase each other around the barn several times without causing the mods undue stress or attention. See? It can be done.

Pete said it best, ScubaBoard is a social experiment. I never really appreciated that seminal thought before this thread. It is indeed a social experiment. That explains (to me) why this is my most favorite social site.

So, in light of that, I would ask the mods to give Jackie a timed ban that makes them feel like they aren't being screwed and then bring her back with honor and dignity. Let many of us who have her cell, home phone, and email point out the landmines that she fearlessly charges through.

Realize that the girl is military. Her native instinct is to charge forward with overwhelming force in delta formation.

Not here, sweets...

I volunteer to moderate them...

Too bad The Donald is not a member. I'll bet that would be entertaining.
