Yeah, she was most special. She totally ruled the outliers.
I'll never forget one late night back-and-forth PM chain that ended with me saying: "I give, I got nuthin'..." The woman had a sense of humor, loved to chat, tough as nails, and was quickly pissed if you "didn't get it" or were being obtuse.
She really was fun.
Go back and read it... it probably says you have to ask to be let back in and that they would make another decision at that time. Unless they wrote it wrong, which happens on rare occasions. Being let back in on a single forum ban is never an automatic because it can't be. We can set the time for a full suspension from an hour to infinity, but we can't on the individual forum bans. It's just that simple. Ergo, without you asking to be let back in and then convincing the mod that you won't break the rules again, it's pretty indefinite as far as we're concerned since it depends on you. Again, it all gets back to personal responsibility, Jim. We didn't force you to break the rules of the A&I forum. You may not like the rules, but that doesn't give you free reign to ignore them.

Uh, one member - one vote? That would be the rarest form of governance on earth. Pure Democracy. Very inefficient and messy.
What we've got here is a failure to communicate! No, wait. That is something else, Google it.
What we've got here is a delegational dictatorship. Very, very interesting form of governance. (The Paradox of Parliamentary Supremacy: Delegation, Democracy, and Dictatorship in Germany and France, 1920s-1950s)
Works rather well with a distracted, yet benevolent, dictator with no designs on ultimate supremacy...
Your memory of that PM is a bit faulty. Since I kept a copy, in the event that there would ever be debate as to what you were told, I could post it, in its entirety, I suppose, but that would ruin your story line.

Scubaboard isn't a community organization, it's a privately owned business. Businesses aren't ruled by their customers, but by their owner(s). Neither democracy nor the 1st amendment apply to businesses.
Luckily, this business happens to be run and staffed by people who genuinely try to be fair, which isn't quite the case for all others.

We don't discuss the details of moderator discussions. I will tell you that several moderators were involved and the decision was unamimous. Of course you are free to exercise the appeal process outlined in the TOS should you disagree with this decision.

Better start deleting threads with links to the news stories describing the events that lead to these threads. Those that direct members to blog posts from people like Steve Lewis, Andy Davis, etc. and any references to accidents, events, incidents, etc. that are also being discussed on CDF, the Deco Stop, Rebreather World, etc.
Every post that references a news story is designed to draw readers to that site to see what is going on.
