I do alot of internet shopping... can anyone out there recommend a good online inexpensive scuba dive shop I can order from? Thanks in advance for your recommendations. :)

when considering a purchase of dive gear. consider maintenace and servicing,.. sure it's great to buy cheep gear.. but when it comes time for servicing and maintenancy.. and suppose the reason you got such a hot deal is because that piece is obsoleat and you can't get parts for it any longer... Talk to your LDS.. they well give you good advice on gear.. and you can see and try before buying. or give you an idea what to look for on the online shopping place..

My 0.2 cents

Thanks solodiver for your reply and yes I did visit my LDS and did check out what they had. They had two masks that I liked, Scubapro Fino and Sherwood Magnum EX. I visited the online store LeisurePro that Murdoc325 suggested and what significant difference in price about $30 cheaper than the LDS. Anyone have any comments on the two above masks, likes or dislikes? they both fitted very well.

Hi ptc,

I buy heaps (ok, most) of my gear online... but for things I need to get fitted (like wetsuits, gloves, booties, masks) I'll buy them where I try them on... even if it is more expensive. I baulk at paying $595 for regulators I can buy online for $319, but if you've been to an LDS and tried things on there for fit, it's only fair that you spend your money there. Most LDSs are independantly owned, not chain stores, and if you're taking up a staff member's time with trying things on so you can walk out the door and buy it online cheaper, the owner still has to pay wages even though there was no sale, and instead of giving the shop cashflow, you've incurred a financial cost to them! It's just not cricket! :) But anything I can research myself though on the web that doesn't need fitting, or isn't available locally, I'll buy online.

I've had nothing but excellent service from LeisurePro, and can't offer any recommendations on the masks you mention, other than buy the one that fits you best, and all other things being equal, if one has a lower internal volume than the other, get that one, as it will be less of a hassle to manage mask squeeze and equalising. Also look at the straps and ease of adjustment while wearing gloves if you're doing cold water diving.

One of the advantages of Leisurepro over other stores for me is that I don't have this guilt problem. Leisure Pro has an actual store front here in New york city...So i can go into the store, try stuff out, ask questions, then come home and buy online from them!

Anyone over seas know if Diveinn.com has a store front you can goto if you happen to be in spain?

Seems at least one store figured out how to do business in the new age of electronic commerce vs brick and mortar.
