I just filled up my latest logbook and am thinking it's time to finally switch to something electronic. I'd be interested in what other people are using and recommendations.

Here's my feature set wishlist (in priority):

  1. Customizable data fields (ie. "lobster count")
  2. Can take photo links (say from a photo site like Flickr) or worst case, an actual photo embedded
  3. Internet accessible -- perhaps blogging capabilities?
  4. Printable (I would still like to be able to have a hardcopy)
  5. Exportable as excel for data analysis or to PDF/word for printing
  6. Simple trending over time, etc. Ability to correlate data fields
  7. Palm OS compatible -- could allow me to input some of the key data and notes during a trip and then export it to the program

Anything you all know of that would fit the bill for some or all of these? Any other features out there that you guys like or have used that I didn't include?

I do both paper and pencil, and commercial.. Nitek Logic for use with my Dive Rite Nitek Duo.

Looked at a few "templates" people have created.. just didn't win me over..

For New England Diving you need the following check boxes:

0 - 6 inches
7 - 12 inches
1 - 2 feet
2 - 5 feet
5 - 10 feet

I just started using the Suunto Dive Manager. After uploading the profiles from my computer, it shows this kind of information:

On the annotations tab, you can link in any file such as a video or photo.

There's also an import/export feature. You might be able to use your palm and then run some conversion program on the data to get it to load automatically, but I haven't messed around with that feature other than to export it for backup purposes.

Of course, you need to have a Suunto computer to upload profiles directly to it, but if you don't care about that, you can certainly use it for free. Here's a link to play around with it:
