Someone at my LDS mentioned that there is a website for US Customs where you can register all of your valuable property which you will be traveling with. Or at least get print the forms to avoid having to do it at the airport. After a bit of googling I have come up empty. Does anyone have a link or any information about this website? Thanks!

register all of your valuable property which you will be traveling with.

Of questionable value.

The law is to keep you from buying goods (in excess of your allowance) while on your trip and importing them.

This certificate shows that you already had owned the goods while here in the USA before your trip.

The cheapest place to buy almost anything with a serial number on it has always been in the US. The value of the dollar has further cemented that argument.

What item were you concerned with?

I do alot of work for cruise lines on board ships (i engineer and program lighting systems and special effects systems for the theaters) so I often travel with alot of tools (hand, meters, test equipment), at least one laptop with accessories, dSLR with lenses and strobes and now some SCUBA gear. In the past I have never had problems with customs officials, but I always had a list of stuff I took with me including serial numbers, but it wasn't the official forms.
