Can't wait!

Maui (Kapalua) April 2nd-8th: I'll be doing AOW with Kapalua Dive Company which is right on-site where we'll be staying. They have been great about answering questions and really setting up a program that will make me a better diver WHILE letting me do some good diving. (Deep, Nav, Night, PPB, AWARE)

Big Island (Waikoloa) April 9th-15th: Currently plan to use Red Sail as they are on-site where we're staying there. Have heard that the drive to Kona is a real pain, and as my wife and kids will NOT be diving with me I don't want to eat up a fair amount of my "me time" with windshield time. (Red Sail = breakfast and lunch with family).

Appreciate any insights folks may have!

Have a GREAT time doing AOW...we did ours on Maui last year and had a great time while learning a lot at the same time. We'll be on Maui from April 1-6 and will be doing boat diving everyday. We currently have 2 charters booked with Ed Robinsons (3-tank Adventure Dives) and 2 charters to Lanai booked with Lahaina Divers, so if you have the time and inclination, it would be fun to dive with you.

I think that you'll be fine with Red Sail. I dove with them last August, specifically because I didn't want to drive into town and it gave me more time to spend with my daughter that day.

I filled out my paperwork with them the day before the dive, since I was walking by their shop location near the pool area anyway - saved me a bit of time the next morning.

I would make sure that you give yourself at least 15 minutes to get from your room to the pick up point at the downstairs lobby - especially if you are at one of the towers on the end. The monorail or boat sometimes takes a while and if you have to walk, it's a bit of a way to go.

Damn - I would love that, but my wife would probably KILL me!

:)

That said, which days are you doing the charters to Lanai...

Come on, I bet your wife wouldn't mind if you snuck away one morning for a quick charter...you'd be back in Kapalua by 1:00pm and have the whole day to focus on her. :05:

I'd have to say that if you've never dove the Cathedrals in Lanai that it is something you shouldn't miss. It is clear why they are called the Cathedrals once you've entered the lava tubes and watched the light stream in from above an illuminate the interiors. You definitely want a flashlight so you can look for critters hiding in the dark.

Deli sandwiches will be served during the SI and warm cookies after the 2nd dive. We're booked on the Monday and Wednesday Lanai charters (April 3 and 5) and would love to dive with you. :D

Well Looks like everyone will be in Maui the same week.

April 2 - 7 here.
