My wife loves her HOG Tech 2s. Anyone know if the HOGs are heavier than the Slipstreams? My wife found they helped counter her floaty legs, so I have assumed they are heavier than average among the stiff paddle fins available (e.g., Jets being heavy fins of this type).

My fins-from-the-same -(HOG Tech 2)-OEM-mold are definitely heavier than Slipstreams and 1/2 a pound lighter and slightly more buoyant than Jets.

Could anyone here with Slipstreams, F2s, or XTs comment on the *dry* weight of your fins (noting which size you have)? Trying to find a lighter weight fin than my current Jets / Turtles for some easy, warm water, single cylinder diving. Thanks!

My XL Slipstreams w/ spring straps weigh a hair under 2.5 lbs each

The Dive Rite XTs weigh just under 3 pounds each and are slightly negatively buoyant. I've been diving them for about 5 years. I find them very powerful when that is needed, sensitive when it is not. I spend most of my time frog kicking but also flutter, back, and helicopter. I find the XTs easy for all these kicks and all circumstances. I don't have experience with the other fins discussed in this thread

Sorry Rainer, I forgot, mine are large, men's size 10-12

Dry weight of HOG Tech 2 size Large is 2.75 lbs.

If I understand the sizing correctly, a Large HOG Tech 2 fits something like a men's US 8-10 foot (certainly fits my US 9 man's foot in a wetsuit bootie). So a Large HOG Tech 2 is similar in size to an XL Slipstream? If that's correct, then for purposes of my comparison:

Hog Tech 2 size L = 2.75 lbs
OMS Slipstream size XL = 2.5 lbs.

I wear a size 13 shoe. I wear XL Slipstreams with a 3 or 5 mm wetsuit bootie (soft soled) and XXL Slipstreams with my Bare drysuit boots.

The OMS size chart recommended a size x-large for a size 8-10 foot. I wear a size 9. In a pair of "heavy duty" 6.5mm wetsuit boots the fins fit like a glove. However, if you wear rock boots or a size 10/10.5 with a thick boot, you may wish to size up to a 2XL. My Quattro's on the other hand are a size regular, so apparently these fins run pretty small compared to others. . . .

So maybe XL is too big for a shoe size 8-10 foot if wearing only a 3 or 5 mm (not "heavy duty 6.5mm") wetsuit boot? I suppose I could do what I've done before and order both an L pair and an XL pair from LeisurePro and return the pair that doesn't fit.

They seem to fit okay with my soft soled 3mm boots, unless you want them real snug.

Thanks for all the good info here everyone. I have a question about the Slipstream fin.

I have very sinky feet. (Which as newb is probably as much to with bad trim technique as anything...) I currently dive Sherwood Tritons which are basically positive, but I want a stiffer, shorter fin. I've tried SP Jets and they're just way to negative for me. In everyone's experience here, would the Slipstream be a good option in terms of buoyancy? I ask because the only LDS that can get them in won't take returns after diving them. If it makes a difference to anyone, I'm diving in the Pacific North West. Drysuit, rock boots, BP/W, steel 120 single tank, etc.

My small f2s weighed around 1.8kg the pair, medium XTs around 2.6kg the pair IIRC. For travel the F2s pack nicer due to shorter length but I prefer still prefer to take the XTs, I find them to be a better all round fin.
