I'm looking at picking up a reel this spring, and was leaning towards OMS since my LDS can get them easily. Has anyone used these and do you have any good or bad experiences?

Jim

The only OMS I've seen come with suicide clips. They can be easily changed out, but I still don't understand why they come with those. Personally, my favorite reel is the Ralph Hood reels. They're the smoothest reels I've used.

I sell both OMS, Salvo, and Dive rite reels. I like the salvo reel much better than any other reel I have seen.

Actualy just received a new Salvo from Hidaway on fri and used it yesterday already prefer it over my oms . (To whomever stole my OMS reel I hope you get it tangled around your neck)

I don't have anything against Manta reels at all. In all honesty I just found a reel that I think is close to perfect and I sort of quit looking for others after that.

Northern Shrinkage, Glad you liked the reel I sent you. It is a great product. Thanks again,

Brent

OMS reels take practice, but are excellent. Check out Trident reels for a great ratchet system, very easy to manage for the new flag-man.

That's not very nice...:no But still funny :rofl3:

I bought a Halcyon Pathfinder Reel this summer, I like it. HOWEVER, the Salvo reel is the same thing, only better, and usually cheaper. The guy who started Salvo used to work for Halcyon and ripped off the design, then made the necessary improvements to it. I've heard nothing but good things about it.

I want one!!!

I have OMS reels and they didn't come with suicide clips??

So far I have found them a little challenging, I have since added a couple of stainless washers on both sides of the reel and that made a huge improvement. They felt like they were hanging up on something, almost as if they were loaded with gravel. But the washers were the ticket

Cheers

I have a Dive Rite and a Reef Scuba reel. I like the Dive Rite, but love my Reef Scuba. One big reason is, if the line jumps the spool, I can fix it in a matter of seconds. I can't do that with the Dive Rite.

IMHO, a reel that has this feature can be invaluable, especially when first learning to use a reel.

Good luck,

Flea
