what are your opinions of OMS products, namely their bcs and harness systems? I am looking at the oms Iq harness and am wondering if anyone has had good/bad experiences with them. how is oms compared to dui/dive-rite/halcyon/etc.? thanks, zach

i dive a iq harness with an aluminum back plate and 45#wing and love it

Why do you need this much lift with an AL b/p?

what types of diving do you do? have you tried other back style bc? any pros cons with the ic as opposed to a plain backplate and harness?

well i got the 45 so i would not have to buy multiple wings right know
the only difference between aluminum and ss is the weight
i dive mostly fresh water all year around
and am getting a ss back plate in the near future, for winter diviing

The pros on a bp/standard harness are simplicity, virtual unbreakability, and you'll fit in with the "I wanna be GI" crowd.

The IQ Pack is easy to adjust and more comfortable for long/steep shore walks.

I've owned both, and currently use a Dive Rite Transplate with a GUTS tall bp, so you could say I see the value in both.

The I.Q. Pack is a decent alternative to a regular B.P./harness. I would look around for the older version with integtrated weight pockets. Unless you plan on wearing a weight belt, the "new" (about 2 years old) "no sag" weight pockets kind of suck. They tend to gravitate to the front of the belt and get in the way. An alternative for the pockets might be either the Halcyon ACB pockets or the Dive Rite weight pockets. You may also want to look at the Dive Rite "Trans Pack" as an alternative to the I.Q. pack. Either way it's all pretty decent gear. Good Luck!

I like my IQ pack. I dive with the weight pockets and it took time to get accustomed to them.

I learned to unthread the belt from one of the loops and use the belt loops to keep the weight pockets in place.

I like my wings just fine. I can air them up manually just fine.

I dive with a 9lb SS plate and 2 lb STA when diving dry, and just the STA when diving wet. I like both configs.

However, If given the opportunity to go back a redo it I wouldn't. There are systems out there that are as functional or better for less $$.

I as well use the no sag weight bags and ran them through the belt loops. I also use on each side either a plastic or stainless slide on clip on the belt that also holds them in place. It comes in handy on the side of the belt that does not have the buckle.
