Good Day Ladies & Germs....

I know what you're going to say off the bat... Do a search.
I did, but there wasn't anything pertinant in 2003. Can some one give me some feed back on this & the Nitek; as I've been told they are the same computer.

Thanks,

I love mine. It is very simple to read and use. The dive log is great for pulling information out to fill in your dive log. It tells you time in, time out and total dive time. My mosquite only told you time in and total time, so you had to figure out your time out in your head. I know this is trivial, but I like it. It is a pretty big watch, but this is what I like about it. I lost my mosquito because it was so small.(That and I am absent minded). I have never gone into a deco dive, but from what I read in the manual it seems like it would be very easy to follow the directions. If you have a specific question about the computer let me know.

I am diving an OMS EANx computer, and yes it is the same as the Nitek. I like the computer, easy to use and read underwater and I really like one particular feature; while under water you can depress the A button and it will display current PO2 (based on your EANx setting) and current time.

I just think it's a neat feature, no earth shattering information, just cool.

Thanks..... Does anyone know if they are user replaceable batteries. I know OMS says certified tech, but come on.... I vowed against Uwatec because you have to send them back to the co. Are there "ANY" differences in the OMS & DiveRite? These aren't back-lite either....right? What about the band...

Thanks again,

No, it isn't backlit. The band works pretty good. There is a very sturdy clip on it, although I have had it loosen up on me and start sliding down my arm on dives. The batteries are not supposed to be user replacable, although I know you can buy batteries for it. I guess that probably ruins the warranty though. I haven't had to change mine yet. I've only had it a year though. There are no differences between the nitek and the eanx. I downloaded the nitek user manual off the web. Its on dive-rites web site and it was pretty much identical to my user manunal... just a few formatting differences.

I have the OMS EANx and it works like a champ! I've taken it into deco twice: once in lake Travis here in Austin, TX and once on the Ocho Rios reef in Jamaica. Very simple to use, and it gives you credit for time spent acending...in other words, by the time I had reached the stop it had scheduled for me, it no longer required the stop! The fact that it is not backlit is a problem sometimes in low visibility situations, so I mouted it on a strap and clip to my BC so I could have both hands free to use it with a light while I can use the other hand to hold it and mash the buttons with my thumb (to see temp, etc.). Now it's never a problem! I got mine from LP and have never had a problem with it. I guess I'll see what happens when the battery dies...probably take it to my LDS and have them replace the battery just to make sure it's done right. So far the battery has lasted through 2 years of diving with no signs of going dead, so it must last a while!

I have about 60 dives on mine and it works great, water activated. Went into deco on it last weekend for the first time, and by the time I was near the surface it had credited my slow ascent (extra minute or two at 60', just because). Clip stays closed, but I usually wrap the ends in an extra loop under the clip while diving.

Bought mine from diversdiscount (they will match LP's price and you get a valid warranty) last year, no problems so far.
