On another thread I posted I said we needed a kitchen to cook breakfast, specifically bacon. We are looking forward to trying some local food but wifey is stubborn and insists that for breakfast it's sunny side up eggs and LOTS of bacon (and toast and hash browns ). Yep typical gringo food for breakfast. We want a place within walking distance of downtown (for a light lunch and full dinner). Needs to be open early enough to catch our dive boat. Soooooo....any places there that will feed her addiction or is it plan b to cook it wherever we stay? Happy wife....happy life.......small price for me to pay and many will laugh but it is what it is. Thanks Bill

No kitchen necessary.
Pick up an electric griddle, a cooler, 5 kilos of bacon, a dozen eggs and a case of beer from the Mega.
Fill cooler with ice, beer and Bacon.
Set alarm for a half hour early.
Cook Bacon and eggs.
Take Bacon and eggs back to bed with a cold beer for each of you.
Start your day.:cuddles:
Repeat til time to go home.

Jeannie's Waffle House will probably fill that bill nicely.

I must have missed it on the other thread, but what happened to the idea of staying at Casa Mexicana, which has a gringo-approved buffet breakfast?

I guess bacon works for you but I learned years ago a greasy breakfast before a days dive results in...well you know. Put me off bacon for years afterwards.

We cook up a batch of oatmeal, throw in frozen fruit half way though and finish with heavy cream. Yum Yum.

We're gluttons for punishment. Or just gluttons. Anyway, nothing says "I'm in Cozumel" to me like burping up chilaquiles during a dive. On our last trip, we used a microwave to make breakfast quesadillas and tostadas, which might have had less effect had we been able to resist slathering them with that awesome Yucatecan habanero sauce.

OMG... When the Casa rolls out the BACON on that buffet it is piled 4" high in a 12" x 14" holding container in the hot section. I'll throw 2 pieces of bread in the toaster, ask Santa (who is the wonderful lady who runs the griddle) for un juevo con queso, and build a bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich that is 4" thick (1/2 of that thickness is compressed bacon). I'd never eat that way at home but when on vaca and diving I'll hold nothing back and watch my fat intake the other 50 weeks of the year.

I usually eat a Pepcid AC in the AM but occasionally forget. I always eat a pretty good sized meal from Cochinta Tortas to 'I have on idea what is in them' Empanadas at the marina with the crew. When I forget my acid blocker I am amazed at what all can go back thru the exhaust of my 1st stage and how many friendly creatures their are on a reef.:D

In the past I have bought the buffet at Casa Mexicana as a non guest (and it is awesome). It used to be a little pricey but with the collapse of the peso it might be reasonable. Anyone know what they are currently charging non-guests in pesos?
