I called them yesterday and told them I was getting some dark pictures, and problems with the unit resetting when removing the batteries, they didn't ask for a s/n and emailed me the return info & case number.

Dee, did Olympus say WHEN they would be reimbursing you? I just had my camera fixed last month, and when I wrote to Oly to ask about reimbursement, they said they will be looking at all of their previous repairs, and contacting the affected customers in November. Just wondering if I should contest the CC charge now, or wait for the process to run through.Dee:They are going to reimburse me for the repair I just had done, second repair/replacement on the CCD, BTW..... and I'll be sending the other one in when I get back.

Thanks for posting this. I just saw it (I was off the boards for a few weeks) and called Oly. My 5050 is covered!! So even though I have had no problems so far, I will get a full refurbishment and new CCD for free!Dee:I found this advisory from Olympus posted on another board. Have you had this problem?

purple tone or the pictures will be completely black. If the LCD monitor (or

I recently sent one of my 5050's in for just this type of repair. Hopefully I can get a refund.
