Going to Cozumel in July, bought the underwater housing for this camera (good deal on Ebay). I've had the camera for awhile so it was a cost effective option. I know this is a weak camera for UW photography, but after all the $ I've spent on this trip it's all I could do. Anyone have experience shooting with this set-up? I hear the magic-filters AM1 is a good option, has anyone tried this or something similar (pretty pricey for a piece of red film, lol). Any tips appreciated.

Looking at the specs, the downside is that it's 100 percent auto. Manual adjustments really help underwater. You can probably get some decent shots with the underwater scene modes. Before you go to Coz, play with it in the pool and see what settings get you your best shots. Generally with Oly, for fast shooting e.g. turtles and such you want the UW wide 2. It has preset focus at 8-15 feet and will give you the quickest shots. For everything else, UW macro will probably work best. Get close and hold still. Shallower shots with plenty of ambient light will come out best.

Thanx, the pool idea is a great one. I know this isn't the best for UW photo's but I already had the camera. What do you think of the Magic-Filter? Is it worth the bucks?

The magic filter will help with your shots to about 40ft and isn't that expensive. I think it runs about $25 from Ryans Reef Photo, and you have to cut it and place it inside the housing. I haven't heard anyone using this camera underwater, so be sure and give us a report when you come back. Aperture mode should help you overcome not having a manual mode. If you don't buy a filter, be sure and dive with a white slate to shoot a manual white balance off of when you're underwater.
