Heyhey , I'll be taking a lil' tour of some of Ohio's historical sites sometime in April/May in conjunction with one of my classes (Ohio History); I 'm curious as to whether I could make this foray even more fun/efficient if I got to visit some other Dive sites that I'd normally not ever go to.

I'm familiar with North West Ohio sites... Whitestar, Portage an Gilboa... but what about Southern Ohio (eastern an western) ? or Eastern Ohio?

Twin quarries in circleville, I have been there it is small and shallow and not worth the price. That is just my opionion yours may vary

yeah I've heard similiar... but, to me, even the "not so great" sites are worth ONE visit if for nothing other than the "never dove there before" factor :)

Skyking(Tom) dives there every Tuesday night. I think? during the season. A twilight dive, or something I cant remember all of the details. If your around during that time or if your trip takes you in that area you might hook up with him

I'll be presenting at the Columbus "Scuba Fest" on March 20-22 and I will see what I can find.

We're annual members at Twin Quarries...not because it's great diving, but because it's close to home and we can pop down there anytime to get underwater. I can guarentee you it will be cold in April/May. I don't even start thinking about diving until June. John, the owner, is wonderful..he wrote a book on search and rescue and is an A+ diver/ resource person.
http://www.twinquarries.com/--check out their website for current water temps, prices etc.
Feel free to PM me if you have questions and I'll try to help. The depth of the quarry is app 20'. You can do both quarries in one day without over exerting yourself. The huge catfish is neat if you are lucky enough to see him. They did some improvements last summer, so hopefully there will be some new things to see besides the plane, bus, boats, etc.
It does get busy on the weekends when the OW students are there getting certified. I'd plan a week day just incase.. even though you are going in April/May.

I know this is not in OH, but very close to the line. There's (was) a quarry near Camden, MI North of Hudson, MI off Camden Rd that I dove years ago. We had to "outlaw" (sneak in) because it was still operational. I don't know the current situation of that quarry anymore; maybe some of you MI divers may know something about this place. As I recall, it was pretty good: the viz on a couple of the dives we did there was about 30-40'. Now that I'm recalling it, there may have been two quarries there; one a sand pit and the other a limestone quarry. I remember piles of sand all over that we had to get around to get to the quarry. I think we found a car in the limestone part. Our max depth was 50' ft as I remember. We were trespassing at that time, but it was out in the middle of nowhere, and no one ever called the cops on us. If anyone knows anything about the place, let me know.

Ok I found a couple/few more quarries... wondering if anyones heard of/dived them...

Lakeview Quarry - Lancaster, OH

Long Lake - Lima, OH

Nelson's Ledges - Garretsville, OH

an where is Spring Mill Pond ?

I'm looking to make the tour in Late April/Early May...
