Oh Where To Get Certified...

Hey guys,

I'm still ironing this whole certification thing out...but your help thus far has been amazing - thanks guys! Anywho, I'm a college student currently living in Boston and I was wondering if anyone had been certified by the Boston Harbor Diving Company? I could stay in my apartment and get my certification out of the way before summer time or I could go back to Connecticut and get it done. Boston Harbor Diving Co. is a PADI course while Central Sales in CT is an SSI course. Does anyone prefer one over the other or heard about BHDC? I'm thinking that the open water dives may be a little more interesting up here in Beantown and it'd probably be easier to continue my diving education with these guys up here. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again guys!

Does your college by any chance offer a diving course? From what I've heard, some of these can be quite good.

No, unfortuneatly it doesn't...

It won't matter which of those two agencies you get your OW cert from, you can continue your dive education with either of them (or even both as you become interested in different aspects of diving). One advantage I can see to doing the course in Boston would be if the dive school has an associated club--dive clubs often organize both local and faraway trips, gear swaps, trip report sessions (with pictures), etc.

Or you could just come to Thailand to learn :14:

Get certified in the conditions you will most often be diving in.....

(i) Dont rush the course
(ii) Qualify in the conditions you expect to dive in regulary.

Anything else is not doing yourself any favours in the long run.
