I'm debating whether getting another rig for double vs renting.
I'm planning to get some classes with double, but I'm not sure that on a regular basis, I'll have that many opportunities to dive double in the soCal area. Or not very often anyway.

How much am I wrong ? ;)

Me and people I dive with use two singles for two dives - a HP 120 and 100. Most of my dives are 50+ feet and I'm normally bumping into NDL limits and not gas limits.

I already have a 30CF and 40CF pony bottle which I use on deeper dives. I eventually plan on diving doubles using a side mount harness and independent regs.

Even when I was deep diving (to 200 ft), I never used doubles... but did carry redundant air of course. My primary tank was an HP120 at the time. Most of those dives were in the 50-60 min range with much of the time spent on a series of deep stops, then a long period in shallow water since I could film at all depths along our sloping bottom. There are dives where I'd benefit from the extra gas, and probably will use a set of doubles in the future for those dives.

I use doubles almost exclusively. I simply prefer them.

My "single" tank rig is 2 x lp 45's......
