Off topic/Article/Dutch Coast Guard suspends Curacao & Bonaire patrols over violence

Anyone have some context on this? It seems odd that maritime law enforcement can't patrol because of violence.

No, I have not seen that article,, just yesterday I witnessed the military helicopters patrolling....the waters between bonaire and curacao.

This is crazy. The Coast Guard guys have guns on their ship. I thought they were the intimidators. Or is this an issue involving drug cartels threatening the CG personnel on land at their base or at their housing? Kind of scary if the Dutch CG can't protect itself. Comes with the neighborhood and misguided American drug policy. Prohibition of booze didn't work. How can Washington not see the war on drugs is a failure?

Legalize-regulate-tax and treat.

Kind of makes the petty theft of carelessly stored stuff a non-issue.
