Hey everyone, I'm heading back to Roatan on August 17th.
This time I'm taking the little one with me (she's 6) and she'll be snorkelling the reef for the first time.
Is anyone else going to be there at the same time?
Will you have kids with you?
If so, give me a yell and maybe we can work out childcare so everyone can get some free time for diving or whatever.
We can also hook up and go down to mandy's Eel garden for snorkelling off the beach.
Great site for kids to learn and adults will see the same things they see on dives.
My wife, 19 year old daughter and I will be doing an AOW course while there.

Let us know where you stay and how it works out. We are planning on taking our kids down at some point but are not sure where to stay or how much they will enjoy it. Ours will be 10,8,and 4 if they go down next year. AKR seems to be a happening place during kids sea camp, we saw tons of kids at the airport and all seemed to enjoy it. Fantasy Island seems to be a good place since they have a nice pool and beaches. CocoView would probably be boring for the kids, but sure is nice when mom and dad want some grown-up time together.

Please share your experiences with us, I'm sure others would like to know how it goes.

CocoView doesn't generally allow kids younger than about 10 at the resort. I think the beach houses next door do, though. I have some friends that took their kids to AKR and absolutely loved it. That might be a better option for your family.

Yes, it's rare to see them there. Kind of nice too. I love kids, but we all need a break.

We've talked about staying at the Playa Miguel beach houses but I think they would get bored. Not much to do for a 3 year old but sit in the house and play in the water a little.

Kids sea camp at AKR looks perfect and last week we met lots of parents (and kids) in the airport as they were going and coming back. They had a great time, so it's on our short list of things to do. We had hoped to go back with the kids before the next sea camp, so I'm hunting for the place. AKR and FIBR are on the list. Maybe I should start a thread about it and see where other people have taken small kids.

How was Fantasy Island? We are planning an early November trip and its one of a couple of spots we have had recommendations for. We are advanced divers - there to dive, eat/drink, relax, not looking for a big bar/party scene or a lot of kids...
