I'm a Fish!
So, here is the problem. I recently aquired a Diverite Trek wing, and am trying to make it work with my Backplate. the backplate is slotted for tank bands and this is my prefered method of diving singles. works great with AL80's and my 28lb Pioneer wing (when I'm diving warm water or teaching).

the diverite wing has 3 large metal grommets down the center for use with double tanks. well it makes it virtually impossible to mount a single tank as it causes the wing to be pushed off to one side.

so looking at options to correct this. not terribly keen on STA's as they raise the tank up and I like to keep it as close to my back as possible. and "low profile" STA's out there or soft STA's that would fix this problem?

Thanks.

as an option - http://www.kidspot.org/personal/scuba/#sta it raises the tank about 1/4" is all, so it's very minimal (only the thickness of the PVC) Another option would be to make something like used in the Pioneer wing with 2 rods (small pvc maybe?) and some nylon webbing to hold it all together...

Let us know what you find.

If you have a poineer wing why would you want to use the Trek wing with singles? Its a doubles wing , just use it as such , then use your other for singles.

Use stainless steel flat head machine screws to attach your wing to your B/P.

Make sure that the screw you use has a head diameter slightly larger than the inside diameter dimension of the grommet hole.

Nylon screws will work quite nicely, also.

Have you tried one of those neoprene tank-wraps. That should do it.

I had the same problem with the rec-wing. My long-term solution was to stop diving singles.

I recently acquired a Trek Wing for single shore dives as well. I agree the strap solution does not work well. It's a total pain in the ***** to cinch the straps tight with the rig centered on the tank. I'm going to explore other options before my next dive.

the Trek wing works fine with singles. I dive a Drysut and a single LP104. the pioneer is also a VERY lightly Constructed wing. I'm currently on my 3nd one (warrenty). it's quite the P.O.S. but is wotking fine for light duty (teaching and goofy resort dives)

I'm trying to stay away from tankwraps, but that might help in the short term. have gone from singles, to Doubles, and now back to singles. blew my knee to peices and can't support doubles anymore :(
