NetDoc:My choice for a traditional Octo is the Viper... it doesn't matter which end is "up".
My logic was that my students would likely be using rental gear that had an octo that needed to be oriented correctly in addition to my Atomic SS1.

Put too much air in? It's a standard balanced inflator mechanism. How did it do that?NetDoc:You should use whatever your students are being taught to use. When I was enamored with my AirIIs I did only one DM stint with them. I had a substandard rebuild of my Micra catch me unawares and I had to use my air2 to finish the dive. It would have been very awkward to buddy breathe with at best. For a while after that, I had an octo in addition to my AirII... until I really got serious about being neutral and figured out that the AirII put way too much air in when you hit the button. So now you can find my AirIIs in the SB marketplace.
I think you'll find the TX50 works just fine as either a primary or alternate regulator. They're functional and robust. I have several ATX 100's and several TX 50's and telling the difference between them usually requires a look at the faceplate. You're 100% right about buying quality - don't skimp on your alternate regulator, it's the one you're going to need to keep you alive when the SHTF.edneeves:I am a bit of a stickler for buying good stuff. It breaks the bank in the beginning but I think its worth it. I have my eye on the TX50 from Apeks, no reason why, but my ATX200 is really smooth so I assume it will be of comparrable quality.
Actually, one of the features is how much quicker it will inflate a BC. Almost half the time needed by a normal inflator. The Hose supposedly has a much bigger ID allowing a higher flow rate. Of course, that's straight from the LDS that sold it to me, so who knows it veracity.Put too much air in? It's a standard balanced inflator mechanism. How did it do that?
Huh that's a new one to me. Could be true and I've never really noticed it.NetDoc:Actually, one of the features is how much quicker it will inflate a BC.
