question ??

I have a friend who gave me an octo plus for my Zeagle Ranger. I personally don't know much about this new octo that hooks up to your BC as a power inflator..

Anyone with comments or statements good or bad would totally be appreciated....

I've had an Octo+ for about 5 years. It breathes very well, is handy when you need it, etc. I use a 48" hose on my primary, routed under my right arm, and that is what I donate. The Octo+ is right where it's supposed to be for the exchange, which is quick.

The Octo+ is heavier than you're used to, which causes it to hang lower when you are vertical. I also use a small retractable to keep it closer to me, and the cable allows it to be raised for air dumping.

Hi Scubarescuepd,
Imagine yourself in an OOA situation and you have donated your primary 2nd stage (and hopefully it is on a long enough hose to do that.)

You are now breathing off of your Octo+ and begin your ascent. Your OOA parasite is hopefully controlling his/her buoyancy as are you... or at least you are trying to... since your BC inflator/exhaust valve is at your mouth you can't pull to dump and you can't raise to dump... so you take it out of your mouth to dump and then put it back in...

Personally I think a better solution is to donate the long hosed primary and go to a necklaced secondary.

wow sure sounds like a lot to think about..

what do you think of this idea... was thinking of taking my octo that i have now.. putting it on a ponybottle attached to my tank.. then installing the octo plus to my zeagle ranger...

that way in case of a OOA situation pony bottle would be available....

anyone with another idea please help cause i'm just thinking about this to death :)

By the way.. i just ordered my suunto cobra , first dive was great... ohhh man can't be any easier than this... all the info right there for ya on screen.... no more math wooohooo :)
