now that i have heard about all the great bp/w systems out on the market i now would like to know if i should get an octo infaltor along with it, especially since i have a standard octo second stage
what is your opinion,
is the price that much more
is it even important or should i just forget about
what about both

Only get one if you are ok with getting funny looks. The hose on a BPW is short and therefore the lp hose is as well. Your octo should be on a bungy around your neck and your primary on a 5-7 foot hose. You are looking to be streamlined not adding unnecessary complications to the system. Search for Hogarthian configurations. You'll get a better idea of what you should be considering. Forget the integrated inflator.

I get funny looks anyway........:)

Especially, when I do the crotch strap swing to try and reach it.........

It can certainly be done, but you have to change out the corrugated hose (easy) to at least a 16". Probably best with a 19". Then you want to be sure it does not dangle too much.
I did it on one of my wings, but prefer the necklaced alternate under the chin.

In either case, I would ditch the standard octo. They are nothing but trouble IMO. If your octo presently has a 40" hose, switch your primary to that hose with a 90 degree adapter between the hose and second stage and route it under your right arm.

The 40" primary works great with a necklaced alternate or the octo inflator.

Something else I saw that was cool. *floater* wears his octo inflator on a necklace under his chin with one of his wings. Eliminates the dangle with the longer corrugated hose and he still has plenty of room to dump air from the BC.

Do you want to change gear, and protocols when you start your tech training?

How many of the divers doing the dives you aspire to are using a combo octo inflator?

Tobin

I put one on my BP/Wing with no problems.

The OP has expressed an interest in tech (in another thread)

do some north east and need a lot f lift eventually tech gear

Hence my advice to look forward to the configuration used by the divers doing the dives the OP aspires to do.

I'll go along with that. OP is a new divier and no need to learn and master an octo inflator then relearn and master a long primary and necklaced backup.
