Hi all, I'm new to diving the Carmel area. Anybody want to dive Monastery on Oct. 10th around 10:00 or 11:00? I know it can be a rough entry, so I'm open to whatever alternate sites there are if necessary.

hmm thats a hard one. if ocean lets you i would go :) otherwise hide in point lobos or perhaps go south monastery or stewart cove.

Thanks, Pt. Lobos is totally booked for that day unfortunately...

Is there a URL that most divers use to determine whether the surf is too big or not? I found Chuck Tribolet's link collection on diver.net, but was wondering if there's a max. swell height at which point you know to head for the more sheltered spots?

I am interested on that Sunday but only if it is calm and good vis reports on the 9th.

Ok Mobeeno, I'll let you make that call since I'll be driving down from SF and don't know which dive report data you go off of. Will PM you my cell #

If I see waves at Monastery I move on. Westerly's a bad indication, anything more than 2-4's a bad indication (for me). I'm planning for Lover's tomorrow, although I'll stop by Monastery to see if I'm still no good at reading the charts (cross your fingers!)
