Since we're talking about oceanlog here I figured this would be a good place to ask a question I came across. I am using version 2.2.0 with a PP2 computer. When I am looking at the "dive details" section of a dive and it shows the graph... when I select certain points on the graph why doesn't it show my PSI reading at that point of the dive? I would think that would be a pretty standard reading to put into one of the columns on the chart? Anyone else experience this too?

I downloaded 2.2.3. in hopes that the Dive Details page would show accurate pressures, but it still becomes incorrect towards the end of a dive. I did two dives in the Kerama Islands (near Okinawa) yesterday. On a 2 sec sampling rate it goes to 0 psi well prior to the end, and on a 15 sec sampling rate it still drops to a psi lower than the actual end pressure.

The only other issue I noticed is that the Air Time Remaining on the Details page goes to 0 min well prior to the end of the dive. This is probably something I don't understand with my Atom 2.0, however, since the Atom also indicates 0 air time remaining before the end of a dive. If anyone knows how to get an accurate air time remaining on an Atom 2.0, please let me know.

Everything else seems to work with 2.2.3.

Doug,

Glad to hear your company is working on the Oceanlog software! Thanks!

Working in the IT world, I have found many companies who make great equipment, but so so software (or worse) and won't work on fixing the software. I have seen software that is nothing more than a GUI overlaying a DOS interface, and nope, they aren't updating the software. I am happy to see Oceanic is continuing to improve Oceanlog.

Thanks for being on this board and interfacing with Oceanic.

Jeff

You guy in the first part of this post go out and dive. I had the Datatrans software long before you were diving. I paid for the cable and software and now we are getting the software for free we should not be complaining let them know about the bugand move on. If you what to send a check to Oceanic for the software great other wise go diving. There were only two companies with downloading software Oceanic and Cochran and it was manly for DAN (Diver Alert Network) use. Oceanic I gland you put the certification area back into your software. Also the color in the graph.

My wife and I do dive!
I don't know about you, but when I pay for something that is supposed to have a feature or do a job then, I expect it to work and work properly.
I sent my check to Oceanic when I purchased my computers from my Oceanic dealer. The computers came with a download cable and software as part of the package. If you want to throw away you money on things that don't work as they should just throw it my way!

OceanLog is unlike most products in our line - it's a category - one that's not going anywhere. OceanLog has been around since our PC interface was used by a handful of divers - just 5 years ago, we sold 1 cable to every 200 computers sold. Today, as this and so many other threads show, - it has quickly become very important to a far higher number of people - and growing daily.

I have no problem with feedback - even the smallest, most obscure bug. We will endeavor to address it - some things may just take longer than others.

Doug, thanks for your explanations. It's clear you value Oceanlog and foresee a future better than the past for it. I just hope your management shares that vision.

To respond to NCadiver, I paid $80 for a cable that is worth $5-10 at most. Maybe could realistically retail for $30 given the obscene markups on all computer cables. So I view my purchase as a $50-75 payment for software. At the present time, I don't feel the software meets that value and unfortunately that's been the case for 2-3 years now. I hope that improves, but given the past, I remain skeptical.

Version 2.2.3
On the “Dive” page:
Please, Please put the Dive site and location back on this page.

On the “Gear” page:
When you create a gear selection and fill out the fields, you should not have to re-input the data for each new dive.

More to come.

Just my two cents. I have the Datamask and am pretty happy with it's performance besides some problems with altitude and an occasional blip during transfer. Oceanlog, however, is useless. It is far behind other logging software and is only functional as a repository for dive profile data that I transfer to Diving Log 4.0 (here). Oceanlog, for reasons mentioned above, is just not as developed as other software. It may be that the company is working on the issues but I believe it will be a while before they can compare with what's on the market right now.

I feel if the features that Oceanlog now contains would work properly it would be the leading software package offered by a dive computer manufacturer.
I've looked into Scubase and Diving log and although highly customizable neither can stand alone and the data they import is limited by Oceanlog's export.
What is frustrating about Oceanlog is the fact that it is still buggy and under development even though we have already paid for it and it has had what should have been plenty of time to have been completed.
If Oceanic treated the software issues as they do warranty issues then we'd would be done with it already. Unfortunately that has not been the case.
