I have an Oceanic Probe that I bought used. It has an OPV on it (bottom-right side of the BC), but it isn't the kind that has a pull cord; it only vents when there's too much pressure. I can't blame it for doing it's job, but it would be nice to be able to manually dump from that location when I am head down and all the air is up there, not at the inflator.
So, my question is, A) are the OPVs universal for most BCs or just Oceanic BCs and, B) where can I get the pull cord version?

Thanks in advance,

Michael

It has been a while since I have used that bc but I am 99% sure that it is supposed to have a cord that activates the rear dump. It should come out of the grommet at the bottom right corner in the front of the bc, just under the handle on the weight pocket. If you google an image of the bc you can see a cord with a grey ball hanging from that location. Being that you purchaced yours used it is hard to say what may have been done to it and why, but I dont think it would be that difficult to put it back.

Thanks for the advice, I found images describing what you're talking about. On mine it just has a plain, solid cap in place of the vented cap with a cord coming out of it. If I can find a vented cap, spring, and diaphragm assembly I can rig up a cord and reroute it's original path and tie a ball on the end of it.
