I use my Oceanic as a backup.
Screen went blank. Replaced with Panasonic CR2 3V lithium battery.
Screen came on showing all digital display lines, numbers, etc.
Does nothing when pressing buttons
Allowed battery to be in for over 10 minutes.
Removed battery, screen goes blank
inserted a different Panasonic battery, same results.
Suggestions?

Hi @SeaCayZee

The PP2 is no longer serviceable by Oceanic/Huish. There's not much you can do but hocus pocus.

What screen comes up after the start up sequence? Is it the normal surface mode or something else? And then, from there, no button push has any effect?

After leaving the battery in for a while, remove the battery and leave it out for an extended period, overnight. Reinsert the battery and see what happens. This has given me a reset twice, once with a transmitter and once with a Geo 2. You have nothing to lose.

Sorry, no other bright ideas, maybe someone else does. My family still dives 3 PP2s, 2 originally purchased in 2002 and the other in 2006. All 3 were eventually replaced under the Oceanic Service program in 2017-18 and all are working today.

Thank you for reply. After battery insertion, screen freezes as shown in photo. Nothing else happens. Again, Thanks.

How long are you leaving the battery out before reinsertion?

What I'd do at this point is use some contact cleaner on the battery terminals, to ensure full voltage is getting to the device.
